Quark became angry, shouting, "I don't CARE!", and ran off, hiding in an abandoned building. Root beer was a rare, expensive luxury in the post-apocalyptic world, and as a result, Quark has taken to saying "Root beer floats my boat." This warms Tenmyouji's heart.Īt one point, Quark got into a fight with Tenmyouji about how parts Quark had found were completely useless. One day, Tenmyouji got Quark a root beer float, a drink made by putting a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a glass filled with root beer. He had no knowledge of his adoption until he was seven, when he began to suspect that Tenmyouji would abandon him once he was able to live on his own. When Quark turned six, he started helping Tenmyouji with his work. Around this time period, Quark learned about Akane Kurashiki, who Tenmyouji was in love with as a child, and how Tenmyouji has searched for her for all of his life. Because of how tiny Quark was as a baby, Tenmyouji named him "Quark", basing his name on the elementary particle.Īt some later point in life, Quark learned to read and write from a woman who used to be a teacher that lived in their neighborhood. Quark was born in approximately 2064 and was raised by Tenmyouji on a post-apocalyptic Earth after the old man found him as an abandoned baby crying on a rainy night. Perhaps a reflection of the culture/education system of the 2060s/70s in the VLR timeline, Quark is shown to be very mature and intelligent for a boy his age, possessing a rather refined diction. The only exception to this is when Dio insults Quark, or when he is infected with a certain suicide virus - then Quark calls Dio and the other players "bastards". He also addresses all of the players (except Alice, for some reason) by "Mr." and "Ms.", showing that he respects them, as Tenmyouji taught Quark to be respectful of others. He sometimes cracks jokes and deeply cares about the welfare of the other players. He is honest and tends to tell the truth, unless his grandfather's life is on the line. He tends to stay calm, cool, and collected. Quark is very cheerful and optimistic about the situation he is placed in. Like the other players, he wears a bracelet on his left wrist.
He wears army green knee length shorts, white crew socks and brown combat boots on his lower half. The cuffs and collar are both adorned with short fur, similar to a pilot jacket. His jacket is an army green and resembles suede material, and is decorated with forest green lining. He sports a white dress shirt, and pale yellow sweater vest. In the large side containers, he stores snacks. He wears a brown leather-like aviator hat/helmet blend, and the chinstraps are unconnected. His hair is shaggy, and seems to be somewhat messy under his hat. Quark is a short, blonde-haired boy with brown eyes.
